Those notoriously naughty birdies

Hiss!

It’s true that there are plenty of notoriously bad people out there, but in my experience, the most notorious bad boys and girls I have encountered are birds. They are very intelligent creatures, and with that often comes a bit of naughtiness, sometimes extreme naughtiness. Don’t get me wrong, I love birds. Very much!

Here are a bunch of videos demonstrating some bird naughtiness. Most are short.

This video is called “Birds are jerks”, but really, the people are maybe a little unwise (to be generous). This is hilarious! 12 mins

When birds are hungry, they don’t care where it comes from. Sometimes they are quite opportunistic and resort to thievery. 2.5 mins

This brown-headed cowbird lays her egg in a cardinal’s nest. She removed some of the cardinal’s eggs, but one, but the cowbird’s egg remains. Poor mama cardinal will tend to the eggs and find a much hungrier cowbird chick eating up the food leaving her remaining cardinal baby hungry. 2 mins

Potty mouth parrots. Well, it’s really the owner’s fault, but the parrots seem to like words. 3.8 mins

Whoa! This eagle thinks he/she is the master hunter. It manages to toss a goat off the cliff to its death. 2 mins

Grackles are bullies. They’ll coordinate with each other to chase away squirrels and other animals. Here grackles swipe down to intimidate a poor old dog. 30 seconds

Finally, have you ever been pooped on by a big bird? I bet you it was deliberate. 30 seconds

Hi Hussein. I posted the naughty birds post yesterday. The day before I was gone all day in Philadelphia with my hubby for his eye appointment. Today I may not post because we’ll be doing lots and lots of gardening. Perhaps I’ll post tomorrow. If not, definitely Monday.

Thanks, Hussein Allam. Luckily, my husband had a good check up this month.

I generally post at least five times per week. On weekends I get pretty busy with projects, but I have posted on a weekend before.

Hi Kerrie. I’m glad you have/had pet birds. Actually, I am still missing Lima very much. Though he’ll never be replaced, I think I would like to welcome a new bird friend to my home soon.

I’ve found each bird is so different from the next that they can never be mistaken as a replacement 🙂 I hope you find a good match when you are ready 🙂

Thank you, Kerrie. Lima was a Pacific Parrotlet (wonderful little birds). I’m thinking of adopting a conure as my next birdy love.

Conures are such fun, energetic birds! I miss my conure Blinkey, but thinking about him makes me laugh, he was such a character.

Thank you for sharing about your conure Blinkey. I look forward to when I can adopt a new bird. My husband is just not quite ready, yet. I had a dream about conures last night.

As someone who grew up on a farm and has been attacked by a goose AND multiple roosters, I can say that this post is the truth.

More seriously, this blog is incredible. You have a talent for letting all multifaceted parts of your personality and experiences shine through.

That makes me very happy to hear that. It was my goal when I set up my blog. I will say that I do write a lot about mental illness, but I require myself to explore other interests, as well. That’s a healthy move for me.
