Anyone whose known me for a while, knows I love to dance. Sometimes I crank up the music in my car, and have a blast! Yea, I definitely sing my heart out. Being in the driver’s seat doesn’t prevent me from dancing up a storm or shout. A favorite song gets me hopping in my seat, waving my arms, slapping the steering wheel like a drum. I put my foot on the clutch, shift that stick, step on the gas pedal moving my whole body, and shifting my bum . Vrooooom, vroom, vroooom, vroom, vroom, errrrrrt! Don’t worry, nobody ever gets hurt.
I have plenty of favorite songs from classical to jazz to rock and roll, but there are a few that when driving, particularly move my soul. Do you want to hear my all-time favorite car jamming tunes? I bet a lot of you know them by heart, too. To listen to them at the volume I sing them, turn the volume waAAY up, my chum. Perhaps if you heard my voice you’d start howling, but alone in my closed car window world, I’ve got a voice as cool as they come. You better believe those in the passing cars, and those behind them, think I’m super loopy, indeed. But I don’t care if I’m seen, because I am the ultimate dancing queen!
Sometimes while a great song is playing, I’m approaching my home destination. I’m not yet ready to stop the party, so I pass my street, and do a loop de loop. Sometimes yet another great song starts just after the last, so you might find me circling the neighborhood, improvising my new route…just like they do with music, in a jazz group. At that time, I turn off the radio and finally head home. I pull into my garage with my heart beating fast. I sit a few moments more, and recover from the jammin’ dash.

What is your favorite driving song?
Oh girl, I have so many favorites! I crank it up and roll my windows down and sing and dance to my heart’s content. The looks mean nothing to me. I actually had a guy smile and thumbs up at me once, hahaha! Life is too short not to have jam sessions!

I spent a summer driving around northern Wisconsin in my grandmother’s convertible while she was away on an extended trip. Oh did I ever sing!
Mostly it was tracks from ‘Fumbling Toward Ecstasy’ by Sarah McLachlan. Perhaps an unconventional choice, but the corn, trees, cows, and silos dotting the rolling hills didn’t seem to mind.

Sounds absolutely dreamy! When hubby and I drove out west in Colorado you can imagine John Denver was playing.

I *can* imagine! Must’ve been idyllic.

Two great songs. The My Shirona album cover actually had a G rated version – it looks like you found the original – I was reading up on it,, and apparently I think he had a questionably, young girlfriend (almost too young) that didn’t wear a bra often – and that was her on the cover. I think they blurred it out because people complained. Maybe I saw a video on VH1 – interview with them or something that talked about it.
My daughter likes to sing in the shower – loudly – until I brought to her attention that the window (above the shower) is always open – and those outside can hear her.

Hi Sandi. I’m glad you liked my song choices. Does the My Sharona video clip I selected offend you? If so, I can always find another version. I noticed the woman was not wearing a bra, but that doesn’t bother me that much, personally.
If I had a good voice I don’t think I’d care who heard me. But as I wrote my voice would make the wolves howl.

Oh, gosh no! I’m usually offending others. I just thought it was a funny tidbit. A strange fact I learned either reading up or watching a VH1 history video interview clip.

I’m glad, but you got me thinking. I know I don’t offended that easily either, but I didn’t really think that some might. Not just because of the girl’s picture, but because of the curse word. I’ll switch it.
Thanks for commenting and have a great night!

That’s what I liked about it – it was just interesting fact I shared. Those two items, actually made me stop at your site…or I would have kept moving on

I’m glad you shared those facts with me, Sandi. It was a cool fact to learn about them. I think I was pretty young when that song came out.
I did end up switching it before I saw this comment of yours. It’s OK. It actually has some clips from a Winona Rider and Ethan Hawke movie I liked.

They were things I liked! If you change it out… what If I don’t like what you put in there instead. Hahahahah Don’t. Leave as is – if someone gets so offended, do you really want that person following your blog?

Well….if you don’t like Ethan Hawke, I’m afraid there is nothing I can do about it. LOL!

Oh, I like both those actors

That’s good. But if you like naughty stories, Winona and Ethan have some, too. I recall Winona getting arrested for shoplifting in the past. Ethan cheated on his first wife Uma Thurman shamelessly. Also, my husband knew Ethan personally. Once he went on a church trip with Ethan and the rest of a youth group and caught them smoking weed. My husband didn’t say anything. My husband was straight from wild and crazy Czechoslovakia.

Good songs! I like relaxed quiet music SOMETIMES… but I also love to crank it up at other times. When I crank I love AC/DC Back in Black.

My Sharona is on my playlist as well. Used to drive a FedEx truck 8-10 hours a day and there was nothing better than a summer day with the doors open and music playing loud enough for the customers to hear from inside their houses. Some good memories. Thanks
