There is a man named Moe who has a penchant to be the star of every show. He drives everywhere in his flashy white Porsche with the windows way down low. He stops at every popular hot spot in the town, just to let everyone know that HE is around.
Every morning he sachets into the town’s main café. He comes so often that on occasion he doesn’t even need to pay. The owner has his coffee and bagel with lox ready for him on the counter. His cronies show up shortly, to begin the daily banter.
Moe brings his home grown veggies and eggs to all of his many many friends. He brags at how his garden grows every year far beyond the fence. With pride he jokes to all that he is the “Squire of Squat”, but squire he truly feels he is, but of squat he’s really not.
He only fits his gardening in just after the café brunch. Then off to the bar he speeds to see more friends, and drink his liquid lunch. “Give me a beer and a glass of Maker’s Mark, and make it a double,” he says, but the bar crowd and the bartenders take care of him to ensure he stays out of trouble.
Everywhere that Moe goes, everyone surely knows him. If he doesn’t recognize a face, he gets up and introduces himself. From table to table he extends his hand to give everyone’s a firm shake. But on occasion in his drunken mirth, a little fool of himself he does make.
Moe eats very few meals at home because he’d miss the goings on of town. All the restaurants in town know him well, the small town squire who wears a shiny crown.
On occasion, Moe sits outside with a pal playing guitar and singing. Every other car that rides by honks their horn in greeting. Once there was a couple from out of town sitting nearby, whose surprise at this caused them to stare. Finally they couldn’t help themselves and asked if Moe was the town’s mayor. Well, that of course brought a gleaming smile across Moe’s entire face. In response, he said “No, I’m not the mayor, but I’m the most popular man from this place.”
Moe is getting older now, but nothing slows him down or keeps him from being everywhere. Even if in the future he can’t walk, he’ll find his way to the parties in an electric-powered wheelchair.
Moe, you are the MAN! Everyone is your biggest fan! If anyone can represent this place, you certainly can.
