I have mentioned my bipolar disorder in past Friday Fitness and Weight Loss updates, but I haven’t fully explained how mood disorders, and some of their medications, can affect weight loss efforts. Of course not everyone with bipolar disorder has the same struggles or successes, but there are tendencies that do seem common. I’d like to reflect on this in this update. As usual, I will also share this week’s results. Continue reading
In my household, Beef Stroganoff is both a comfort food, and yet more than worthy of serving to guests, including my diet-friendly version. I had never eaten or made this dish until about 15 years ago. My first version was loosely based on one considered fully “Core” for Weight Watcher’s former Core Plan, now the Simply Filling Plan. I’ve since reworked this recipe from its simpler version, to one that wows both my husband and I. Continue reading
It’s now three months since I started this journey. Continue reading
It’s been a tough couple of weeks! My computer has given me major problems (explaining the combined weeks 10 & 11 post), my mood has been low, and my motivation to keep up my fitness and weight loss journey was disturbed much of the time. At the end of week 10, I thought I would’ve at least maintained my weight, but I didn’t though my calorie consumption seemed mostly in the maintenance or slight weight loss range. This past week 11, I did a little bit better. I weighed myself a bit early, and was encouraged. Luckily, I lost a touch more by my weigh-in day. Here are my results: Continue reading
Above: Some of the foods I went overboard eating this week.
Well, you might recall my hefty weight loss just after my return home from Portugal, but since then I’ve fallen off the fitness and weight loss program. I’m glad, however, that I continue to write these updates. Continue reading
As a kid, I always loved my maternal grandmother’s bread pudding! Continue reading
I’ve just reached the end of my first full 4 weeks on my fitness and weight loss journey! I’m proud to still be writing these updates, and it’s my intention to continue to do so, no matter what my weekly results. Those following these e-mails have seen me consistently lose weight since I started this. Well, this week (or at least half of it), I encountered some challenges that I didn’t have (or barely had) in weeks 1-3. Below find this week’s results, as well as some reflections that I’m sure many of you can relate to. Continue reading
I just finished week three of my fitness and weight loss journey! I’m so proud that I’ve remained committed to this endeavor. Actually, after getting past the first two weeks, tracking and staying on plan is getting easier. It’s like less effort, and comes more naturally. Though I know not all weeks will yield weight losses, so far I have lost weight every week since my journey’s start. See this week’s results below, followed by reflections, a statement of my updated interim goals, and a link to my plan details (for those who’ve not read them). Continue reading
Last week I went down to the basement to browse through some old photo albums. Do you all remember them? Albums that contain printed photographs? LOL! Nowadays photos seem to only be kept electronically. Having physical photo albums ages me a bit. Well, I guess I certainly have aged.
In the album I looked at last week, I was nice and trim. Continue reading
I have to confess that it’s been years since I exercised regularly. I am even disappointed in myself because I don’t eat as well as I used to. This was not always the case. I’ve had periods in my life when I exercised all of the time and maintained what my husband refers to as my “Every meal two veggie and/or fruit policy.” I was like an army sergeant about that. Luckily hubby likes veggies and fruits. Continue reading
