Starting on April 6, 2018, I decided to embark on a weight loss and fitness journey that I will describe in honest journal-style posts that I will publish every Friday under the category of Friday Fitness and Weight Loss Updates. You are welcome to join me on the journey in whatever way you like. I would not only love to receive support and advice, but would also be very happy to share some, too.
All of my Friday Fitness and Weight Loss Updates will include details on my weight loss (or gain) progress, exercise achievements (or lack thereof), and reflections on various other aspects of my particular journey. Below I hope to include some kind of charts in the future.
My weight loss plan will be one where I track my eating so that I burn more calories than I consume. My emphasis will be on reducing certain carbohydrates and bad and excessive fats. I will consume whole grains, fruits and vegetables, lean proteins, and other foods that create a well-rounded healthful diet. I don’t believe in deprivation, so I may occasionally treat myself to a reasonable sweet, but one that fits within my eating plan.
For a long time, I have neglected proper physical fitness. Increasing my physical activity will also be a major goal during this endeavor. At first the activity may seem little to some, but I need to start with what I can handle (but more than before), and will gradually increase my weekly exercise as my endurance increases.
I believe in setting interim goals for both weight loss and exercise. I find that to be more motivating than setting huge goals that seem intimidating and hard to reach.
